A nighttime view of Arles is seen in Vincent van Gogh's work Starry Night , also known as Starry Night Over the Rhône. It was created a short distance from Van Gogh's rental home at the time, the Yellow House on the Place Lamartine, on the bank of the Rhône. Some of van Gogh's most well-known works, such as the June 1889 canvas from Saint-Remy, The Starry Night, and the Café Terrace at Night (painted earlier in the same month), were inspired by the sky and the effects of light at night.
