In the foreground of this view of "Les Vessenots," on the outskirts of Auvers, are several old rural cottages. Below them, a long expanse of wheat fields can be seen, broken only by a few waving trees. The artist's work in his final era is characterised by a limited colour palette, primarily brilliant greens and yellows, and frantic, agitated brushstrokes that follow a repeated, undulating pattern. In the weeks leading up to his passing, Van Gogh painted numerous landscapes while usually working outside.
